Signify today announced that it has acquired Minnesota-based Intelligent Lighting Controls (ILC). Cooper Lighting Solutions, a U.S. company of Signify will be adding ILC to its growing lighting controls platform. ILC produces many categories of wired commercial lighting controls products including lighting controls panels, integrated controls and wallstations. Cooper Lighting’s acquisition of ILC will augment its building systems offerings which is currently highlighted by the company’s Wavelinx, Trellix and Greengate platforms.
It’s been years since Cooper Lighting added to its controls platform through acquisition, but in its early days, small specialty acquisitions helped build a foundation for Cooper Lighting’s now-robust controls platform. Cooper Lighting and then-sister-company Cooper Wiring Devices went on a controls acquisition spree 10-16 years ago acquiring Powerline Communications, Inc. (PCI), Polaron, Novitas, Apex Lighting Controls (Greengate) and Fifth Light.
Many of the previously acquired brands and products were rolled into the Cooper Lighting portfolio which has since grown through the company's own product R&D efforts. Fifth Light continues to be a brand of Cooper Lighting and is not owned by Boston lighting agent, Reflex Lighting, as EdisonReport incorrectly reported in January.
